On Monday 29th March, the UK got the nes it was so desperately waiting for, up to six people, or two households (of any size) can now mix outside and in private gardens!
Although non-essential shops, gyms, entertainment venues, pubs, and restaurants still remain closed for the time being, for many being able to see their close family and friends, is the perfect start to the easing of restrictions.
Spring has definitely sprung, the weather is getting nicer, the evenings are slowly getting lighter, so how can we enjoy our new found freedom with our loved ones?
Walks:
One of the easiest ways to get out and see your friends and family is by going on a walk together. It may sound very plain and boring, however in the space of a half an hour walk, you’ve left the house and done some exercise, and you’ve spent the time talking and catching up with a loved one. For many people a walk a day has been the only thing getting them to leave the house. I know for one that the only reason I have been leaving the house is to take my dog for a walk, and that's it!
Don’t get me wrong, walking isn't for everyone, but personally I can’t think of anything better than a long walk on a sunny day, with my dog and my best friend.
Picnics:
Now that the weather is getting nicer, take advantage! Plan with your family or within your group chat to meet up in a park or a field, bring food and bevvies, and enjoy eachothers company. Not only will this do a world of good for your mental health, it’s another reason to get out of the house and spend this precious time with the people closest to you.
So grab your picnic blankets and your snacks and enjoy the most of what the british weather is giving us.
A simple visit:
If a walk and a picnic are not really your cup of tea, what about just simply visiting? Because the restrictions have been eased, meaning up to six people, or two households (of any size) can now mix outside and in private gardens, this means you can go to your friends and families homes and sit in their back garden and relax with them.
Have a barbeque, a few drinks or just a get together to talk and catch each other up on what has been happening in your life. I can guarantee you will feel so much better.
If your are fortunate to live by the sea, you can do all of the above by the beach! Unfortunatly, I don't, so I'll be sticking to walking my dog in the fields.
Just make sure that however you chose to meet up with your loved ones, that you are still adhering to the government guidelines and remaining at least 2 meters apart. The sooner we all follow the guidelines, the sooner we will be able to return to ‘normal’.
